A theatre has stood on the site of His Majesty's Theatre since 1705. This incarnation of His Majesty's Theatre opened in 1897. The theatre changed names from Her Majesty's Theatre to His Majesty's Theatre on 6 May 2023, in line with King Charles III's Coronation.
